Research Foundation Grants and Awards

General Surgery Resident Research Initiation Grant

Purpose:   To attract General Surgery Residents or recent Graduates of such programs into the field of Colon and Rectal Surgery by providing opportunities to engage in clinical or laboratory-based research focused on diseases of the colon, rectum and anus.

Amount:  $20,000
Proposal Deadline:  March 1st
Review/Notification Date:  Spring/Summer

 

Medical Student Research Initiation Grant

Purpose:   To provide opportunities for Medical Students to participate in clinical or laboratory-based research focused on diseases of the colon, rectum and anus.

Amount:  $4,000
Proposal Deadline:  March 1st
Review/Notification Date:  Spring/Summer

 

Career Development Award

Purpose:  To provide young staff support for initiating and development of academic careers in the field of diseases of the colon, rectum and anus.
 

Amount:  $75,000/year for two years
Application Deadline:  October 1st
Review/Notification Date:  Winter/Spring


 

International Fellowship Grant

Purpose:  To provide research support to residents and clinical investigators from outside the U.S. or Canada to travel to the U.S. or Canada to do research – or – residents and clinical investigators in the U.S. or Canada to travel outside the U.S. or Canada to do research.

Amount:  $50,000/year
Application Deadline:  March 1st
Review/Notification Date:  Summer/Fall 


 

Limited Project Grants (LPG)

Purpose:  To provide investigator the opportunity to pursue research interest, specifically germane to the field of colon and rectal surgery. It is anticipated that successful research projects, initially funded through The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Research Foundation’s LPG mechanism, will ultimately secure funding from other national funding agencies.

Amount:  Up to $50,000/year
Application Deadline:  March 1st and October 1st
Review/Notification Date:  Summer/Fall (March applicants) or Winter/Spring (October applicants)


 

RFP Clinical Studies on Benign Colorectal Disorders

Purpose:  To foster outstanding research in specific areas of colorectal diseases or disorders leading to the improvement and management of common, yet understudied colorectal problems.

Amount: $50,000/year for two years
Application Deadline:  October 1st
Review/Notification Date:  Winter/Spring
